I’m in my home, you know. These are my people, these are my supporters. These are the people who’ve been there for a long time, rooting for me. It’s humbling, it’s honoring. I don’t think I’ve ever heard that before at a national team event, and that’s pretty special, and I’m going to keep that with me for a long time.

Harris dismissed the idea that Monday’s start was a milestone of particular significance, the reward for a long wait that saw her train with the national team on and off for almost five years but rarely see the field, even after recently moving into the No. 2 role behind Hope Solo. In typically blunt fashion, she noted that she works her posterior off every day regardless of the role. She, of course, chose a different anatomical word. But teammate Ali Krieger suggested that might not be the whole story.

You don’t wait as long as Harris waited for that start without it meaning something.

She’s definitely a world-class goalkeeper,” Waldrum said of Harris, And to see her grow the way she has and mature and become a great individual and a great person and really giving back to the community — she does a lot of work in her area, I’ve noticed — I’m real proud of her.

Do you ever feel like you’re stuck? Like you wake up in the mornings and then you go to bed at nights but you don’t really do much during the day. And you feel everybody around you is moving on with their lives and doing things; and you try to but your stuck. You’re just on auto-pilot living a routine. Is it just me?
